THE STORY SO FAR
When Poppy & Pip opened in 2023, there was no mood board, no colour palette and no carefully curated menu plan. What there was, was a few pages of journal entries about how we wanted people to feel when they walked through the door. That was the whole brief. Turns out, that was enough.
What started as one cafe on Queen Street has grown into something we're genuinely proud of. A solid team who show up every day and care about the details. Local ingredients sourced from people we know and trust. And a community of regulars who keep coming back, which honestly still gets us every time.
We've even found our way into Busselton Airport with Poppy & Pip On The Fly. Not bad for a pipe dream.
We're proud of how far we've come. More than that, we're proud of the people who got us here, the team behind the counter and the community in front of it.
MEET POPPY & PIP
The cafe is named after two very important dogs. Here they are.
Poppy is a tiny dragon in dog form. Criminally smart, deeply suspicious and somehow completely impossible not to love. She swims in a life jacket, collects tennis balls and is almost certainly running some kind of operation we don’t know about.
Pip is not the smart one but she approaches every day with pure, unfiltered enthusiasm and a suspiciously intense interest in ants. She loves her humans, her kelpie aunty and soft toys (before they meet their end). We wouldn’t trade her for anything.
SHARING THE JOURNEY
As any business owner can probably tell you, I spend most of my time on google searching for “how do I do…”. This is a journey of figuring things out as I go and loving the adventure along the way.
My intention behind every social post, every video, every written feature is to be as transparent as possible about the reality of running a small business - the good, the bad & the ugly!
As part of this process, I have had the privilege of sharing with a community of business owners at an Inspire & Collaborate event, the opportunity to speak to high school students studying business as well as the amazing chance to be featured in Forth Mind Magazine.
I hope that by talking about my experiences in starting Poppy & Pip, other aspiring young business owners will feel less alone in the journey.
NEVER MISS A THING.
